As the holiday season approaches, we thought it was be entirely appropriate to put together a ballet gift guide for those who are stuck on what to get for that special Ballet fan in your life! Ranging across every budget, we picked our favourites below. These are in no way subtle hints aimed at our family and friends who are stuck on buying us gifts…

Exactly what is says on the tin, fabulous former balletina and currenty Strictly judge Darcey Bussell chose her favoruite music from a selection of ballets, and they are presented all together on this collection. Newly released just in time for the holiday season.

This sweet pointe shoe ring in Rose Gold is modeled by Misa Kuranga, a principal dancer with the Boston Ballet. Made by Chacott by Freed of London.

8. Dancewear Gift Vouchers
Dance clothing is expensive, whether it’s for the casual weekly class or for a dancer attending vocational school. A gift voucher to Bloch, Capezio, or your local dancewear shop would be a wonderful surprise that would surely be appreciated by any dancer of any level.
7. The Carlos Acosta DVD/BluRay Collection
In celebration of ballet superstar Carlos Acosta’s retirement from the Royal Ballet, Opus Arte has released a fabulous 3 disc DVD or BluRay set of Carlos is some of his most treasured roles. It includes La Fille mal gardee, Romeo and Juliet, and his own production of Don Quixote. That’s approximately 375 minutes of dance! Plus it’s an All Regions DVD so it can be enjoyed no matter where your location is in the world.

5. Ballet Books
There are a plethora of wonderful ballet biographies currently available, and any ballet lover would be excited to receive one or even a selection! Some of our recent favs include Misty Copeland’s autobiography “Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina”, Michaela De Prince “Hope in a Ballet Shoe”. Some wonderful biographies not to be missed are “Rudolf Nueyev: The Life” by Julie Kavanaugh and “Margot Fonteyn” by Meredith Daneman.
4. Official Ballet Company Merchandise
The majority of ballet companies offer a range of merchandise that is available to purchase in a physical shop, but luckily now most of them have an online shop as well. Some of our favourite online shops are New York City Ballet (our favourite is the ballet terms tee), Scottish National Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, and The Royal Opera House Shop.
3. Dance UK Vadim Muntagirov/Tamara Rojo Mugs
How wonderful are these? Dance UK got Royal Ballet principal Vadim Muntagirov and ENB artist director and principal dancer (and superwoman) Tamara Rojo to sketch self portraits and put them on limited edition mugs.

2. A Membership to Support a Favourite Ballet Company
Many ballet companies have further ways for ballet fans to become involved by offering membership schemes of some sort. The Royal Ballet has different levels of supporting “Friends”, and English National Ballet has a “Friends” scheme as well, both including options to buy memberships as Gifts for others. Perfect! Wherever you are in the world, the majority of ballet companies have options to support them, which is a fantastic present to give to a ballet fan. Not only does the receiver gain enjoyment of the many benefits the membership schemes offer, but the money spent also goes to support and fund something they love.

You know all us ballet fans really want to do is go watch an amazing live performance, so if you are absolutely are stuck on what to get us, a trip to see a local ballet company or a visiting ballet company is really what we would all consider the perfect gift!
